Glimpse of Montana Watercolors – Michael Koski

As a Red Lodge, Montana, native, Michael developed a love of the mountains of Montana early in life.
Fishing trips in the Beartooth Mountains with his grandfather reinforced his appreciation of nature’s
beauty, as well as fostering a curiosity of geology. Michael went on to earn a degree in Geology (U of M)
but would always mix art classes in with his science curriculum, lucky to take classes from Ben Steele
(EMC) and Dr. Dew (UofM). As his geology career marched on Michael continued taking workshops with
many fine local and regional artists whose influence is seen in his art. After 39years in geology in was
time to work on his second passion and focus on Watercolor.
Artist Statement

I have a deep-seated love for the startling beauty of nature and watercolor’s ability to capture this
magic. I continue to grow as an artist, enhancing my skills, occasionally successfully merging magic,
subject, and mood to produce a timeless piece that transcends my time on Earth.
